Yuki Tsunoda takes an important step towards Formula 1 with F2 victory

In any case, he finishes in the top four in the championship of the talent class, which means he has fulfilled a condition to join AlphaTauri in 2021.

The 20-year-old Tsunoda is expected to be announced soon as the new driver for AlphaTauri in Formula 1 for next season. He will succeed Daniil Kvyat in the sister team of Red Bull Racing. Because of his classification in at least the top-4 of Formula 2, he has now also secured the super license, necessary to be able to compete in the premier class.

Tsunoda strengthened third place in the championship with his victory, but is not competing for the world title. That battle is between Mick Schumacher and Callum Ilott.
