Especially at ADO Den Haag the hope has grown in recent weeks that it would be possible to stay in the premier league. The club won against Feyenoord and PEC Zwolle in the run-up to Thursday afternoon and could pass the Tilburg club in the rankings with a victory over Willem II. But ADO turned out not to be able to cope with the visitors. Willem II quickly took a 0-2 lead and eventually won 1-4.
In the vicinity of the Cars Jeans Stadium, we detained two groups, consisting of a few dozen people, who did not comply with our claims to leave the area there due to the current emergency order. #mistresshague. https://t.co/PQjIYwaVDi

The relegation of ADO Den Haag was accompanied by the arrests of dozens of supporters by the police. They ignored a claim to leave the area, police reported on Twitter. Earlier on Ascension Day, the municipality had issued an emergency order to keep supporters away from the stadium during the game. Yet ADO fans already lit fireworks there before the game.
VVV-Venlo could draw hope from the fact that national champion Ajax had already played out: the Limburgers had a greater interest in winning the match. It turned out not to be enough to offer the Amsterdammers a good match. Despite a red card after an hour of football, Ajax was 3-1 too strong for VVV-Venlo. As a result, the number 16 in the ranking, FC Emmen, can no longer be traced for the Limburg team.
That is also because the people from Drenthe themselves won 3-1 against sc Heerenveen. FC Emmen will compete with Willem II in the last round of play for direct enforcement. Whoever ends up in sixteenth place of the competition, goes to the after-competition. In it, promotion and relegation matches against teams from the first division await, a traditionally difficult route to safeguard body preservation. That is why the joy was great at RKC Waalwijk on Thursday afternoon. The club defeated FC Twente 2-1 and can therefore only be overtaken by FC Emmen on paper.
PSV also did good business on Thursday afternoon. The Eindhoven team won 4-2 against PEC Zwolle, while competitor AZ drew 0-0 at FC Groningen. As a result, the second place, good for qualifying for the preliminary round of the Champions League, is almost certain.
Vitesse qualified for European football on Thursday afternoon. The club itself played a 3-3 draw against Fortuna Sittard. That was enough to secure fourth place, because competitor Feyenoord just as well did not win against Heracles: 1-1. The difference therefore remains five points.
