After two weeks of silence, the cinemas may open their doors again from Thursday. The offer immediately expands with ten films, including a horror comedy starring Vince Vaughn and a new Oscar contender from David Fincher. View below which titles will be released this week.

Freaky (2020) – comic horror

High school student Millie appears to be the latest victim of serial killer The Butcher in this horror comedy, but to their surprise, the two wake up in each other’s bodies. While Millie tries to convince her terrified friends of what happened, The Butcher realizes that he can wreak havoc in a girl’s body much more easily. Freaky was directed by Christopher Landon, previously Happy Death Day made.

Limp (2020) – drama

With his latest film, David Fincher (Se7en, The Social Network) a look at the creative process of Citizen Kane, one of the most influential films of all time. The protagonist is screenwriter Herman J. Mankiewicz, who takes inspiration from his own memories of Hollywood’s depraved studio system. Oscar winner Gary Oldman (Darkest Hour, Harry Potter) plays the title role in this film, which can also be seen on Netflix from December 4.

Hillbilly Elegy (2020) – drama

After a family crisis, law student JD is forced to return to his parents’ home. While arguments are still unresolved, he reflects on the relationship with his caring grandmother and drug-addicted mother. This drama, which also hits Netflix on November 24, was directed by Oscar winner Ron Howard (A Beautiful Mind, Apollo 13). The term hillbilly refers to the low-educated inhabitants of the Appalachian region in the United States.

The Birdwatcher (2020) – drama

Freek de Jonge is almost the only actor in this drama, about a man who has lived and worked in a bird sanctuary for decades. It is the first time in more than thirty years that De Jonge can be seen in a cinema film again.

The Assistant (2019) – drama

This drama follows one day in the life of Jane, an ambitious woman who wants to make it in the entertainment world. However, she discovers that her new workplace is dominated by a culture of abuse and sexism. The lead role in The Assistant is played by Julia Garner, who has since won two Emmys for her role on the Netflix series Ozark.

The Secrets We Keep (2020) – thriller

With the arrival of a new neighbor, the war trauma resurfaces at Maja. In 1960s America, she strongly suspects that the gruesome SS commander from her memories is back. Total Recall (1990) – science fiction

The new 4K restoration from EYE was enthusiastically received by Verhoeven. “You see so much detail that it seems three-dimensional”, the director says via EYE.

The Death of Antonio Sánchez Lomas (2019) – documentary
