The Flight Attendant, with Michiel Huisman in one of the leading roles, has a chance to win a prize at the presentation of the Golden Globes on 28 February. The series, also nominated by Kaley Cuoco as Huismans’ opponent, has been nominated in the category best series – comedy and musical.

Are in the same category too Emily in Paris, Schitt’s Creek, The Great and Ted Lasso nominated.

In the best drama film category The Father, Limp, Nomadland, Promising Young Woman and The Trial of the Chicago 7 chance of a prize. Borat Subsequent Movie Film, Hamilton, Music, Palm Springs and The Prom are the five contenders in the comedy and musical category.

Limp, the film by David Fincher about screenwriter Herman J. Mankiewicz, leads the number of nominations in the film category with six in total. The nominated titles include many films and series that can be seen exclusively on streaming services, possibly a result of the many postponed cinema films. Netflix received a total of 42 nominations.

Chadwick Boseman, who died of cancer in August 2020, will receive a posthumous nomination for his role in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom. He has been nominated in the category of best actor in a drama film.

Record number of nominated female directors

The Crown has the most nominations in the series categories, also six in total. All female protagonists have a chance to win a prize, including protagonist Olivia Colman (Queen Elizabeth) and Emma Corrin (Princess Diana).

It is striking that three women have been nominated in the category best director, a record. So far, never more than one female director has had a chance to win the prize. Emerald Fennell (Promising Young Woman), Regina King (One Night in Miami) and Chloé Zhao (Nomadland) are among the nominees.

Presentation postponed due to coronavirus

The nominees in a total of 23 categories were announced Wednesday afternoon by the actresses Sarah Jessica Parker and Taraji P. Henson.

Normally, the Golden Globes awards are held on the first Sunday of the calendar year to kick off the new Hollywood season.

However, due to all the uncertainties surrounding the corona virus, the event was moved. It is now being held on the old date of the Oscar ceremonies, which have been pushed back to April 25.

Tina Fey and Amy Poehler will once again be responsible for presenting the Golden Globes this year. They previously did that in 2013, 2014 and 2015.

Due to the corona virus, the presentation takes place in a different way. Fey does her presentation from The Rainbow Room in New York, while Poehler can be seen from The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills.
