Young Sheldon, a spin-off from The Big Bang Theory, will continue for at least three more seasons. Broadcaster CBS confirmed on Tuesday that there will be a fifth, sixth and seventh series of the program.
In Young Sheldon plays Iain Armitage, also known from Big Little Lies, the young version of Sheldon Cooper, the character featured in The Big Bang Theory was portrayed by Jim Parsons.
The series is set in 1980s Texas, with child prodigy Sheldon attending high school as a nine-year-old. Parsons acts as the show’s voiceover.
In the Netherlands, the series can be seen on Comedy Central. The fourth season is currently being broadcast on that channel and in the United States. In this season, Sheldon – then eleven years old – gets his high school diploma and prepares for the next step: university.
Zoe Perry plays in Young Sheldon Sheldon’s mother, Mary. The real mother of the actress, Roseanneactress Laurie Metcalf, was in The Big Bang Theory can be seen in the role of Mary Cooper.
