Several fires raged in the vicinity of Hoogeveen (Drenthe) on Monday evening, according to a report on Burgernet. The report mentions arson.
The first fire broke out at a tennis club. Two vans were badly damaged by the fire there. A bystander signs in RTV Drenthe that gas bottles were stored in one of the vans. These were exploded by the fire.
A short time later, passenger cars were on fire at two different locations, forcing emergency services to deploy from different locations. The fourth fire took place at an ice rink association in nearby Hollandscheveld.
The fire brigade quickly extinguished the fires. As far as is known, no one was injured.
Police called eyewitnesses to report. At 1.15 the police announced that the civilian network action had ended. It is still being investigated whether there is a link between the fires.
