Rinus van Kalmthout proud of first pole in IndyCar

The 20-year-old driver from Hoofddorp, in his debut year in the popular American racing series, set the best time in qualifying on the indoor circuit of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway: 1.09.6903. Van Kalmthout will therefore start the Harvest GP over 85 laps Friday evening from first place.

“Proud” (proud), wrote ‘VeeKay’ on Twitter with a photo of the high pole along the circuit showing the results. At the top is his start number 21. “It’s time to do a pirouette: my first IndyCar pole! Thank you Ed Carpenter Racing for making the car perfect. I can’t wait to start racing! ”

Van Kalmthout is having a good first year in the IndyCar, although he has not yet managed to reach the podium. He does lead the classification of the ‘rookies’ (newcomers). The North Hollander qualified fourth in August for the famous Indy 500, but a failed pit stop broke him up in the race.
