There will be a sequel to the science fiction movie Cloverfield from 2008. Variety reports that film production company Paramount and JJ Abrams have started working on a second part.
Just like the original movie, the sequel will also be produced by Abrams, known for several Star Warsmovies and hit series Lost. Matt Reeves, director of the first Cloverfieldfilm, is not participating in this project.
The 2008 film was best known for the way it was filmed. The entire film was shot as an amateur home video, as if the actors were doing the camera work themselves. According to The Wrap the new movie will not be filmed in the same way.
The original film was also expanded in 2016 and 2018 10 Cloverfield Lane and The Cloverfield Paradox came out. These films were set in the same universe, but did not extend the storyline of the first Cloverfield. The new sequel must be a direct follow-up to the 2008 story.
