Organization Oscars also holds awards ceremony in London | NOW

In addition to the two Oscar ceremonies that are being organized in the American city of Los Angeles, this year the nominees also have the opportunity to travel to London, England, to potentially receive a prize. Variety reports that the organization is considering adding more locations.

The decision of the organization of the awards show follows criticism from the film world about the way the ceremony is being held this year; nominees can only physically receive their prize.

At first there was talk that this would only be possible at two locations in Los Angeles. However, travelers have to be quarantined upon arrival in the United States, which would confuse the schedule of filmmakers not residing in that country.

During a meeting with representatives of the nominees on Tuesday, it was said that London has been “100 percent” confirmed as an additional venue for the Oscars. Which location in the British capital is exactly, producer Stacey Sher could not say. As in Los Angeles, a limited number of people will be admitted in London. The nominees are only allowed to bring one guest.

Traditionally, the presentation of the world’s most important film awards is held in Los Angeles. This year, because of the corona measures, actors and filmmakers can pick up their statuette at two locations in that city: the Dolby Theater and Union Station.

The ceremony was originally scheduled for February 28, but had to be postponed to April 25 due to the corona virus.
