Netflix big winner at SAG Awards, Chadwick Boseman also receives prize | NOW

Netflix has become the big winner at the Screen Actors Guild Awards. The streaming service claimed the most prizes in both the Film and TV category. Actor Chadwick Boseman, who died last year, also received a prize.

The awards were presented for the 27th time. The SAG Awards are awards for performance in both film and television programs. The award is considered the most important awarded annually by the Screen Actors Guild, the American actor’s union.

Netflix won in three of the five major movie categories. Chadwick Boseman received the award for Best Male Performance for his performance in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom. His wife accepted the prize.

Viola Davis, also featured in that film, received the award for best female acting performance. The prize for best cast went to The Trial of the Chicago 7.

In the television movie / miniseries category, the award for best male performance went to actor Mark Buffalo for his role I Know This Much Is True. The series was broadcast by HBO and was shown in the Netherlands on NPO 3. Anya Taylor-Joy received the award for best female acting performance for her role in the Netflix series The Queen’s Gambit.

The awards for best acting performance in drama series both went to Netflix productions. For example, actress Gillian Anderson won the prize for her role in The Crown. Jason Bateman received the award for his contribution to Ozark.

The SAG Awards were presented in a pre-recorded show. All members of the American actors’ union SAG-AFTRA (Screen Actors Guild – American Federation of Television and Radio Artists) have the right to vote.
