Verstappen has never been on the podium on the Baku street circuit. “It’s time to change that,” said the Red Bull driver. ,,It’s not my favorite track to be honest. Let’s see how competitive we are. I do expect Mercedes to come back strong there.”
Verstappen remains sober, even after his victory in Monaco and taking the lead in the battle for the Formula 1 World Championship. ,,Taking the lead in the championship feels good, but we have to be there after the last race. That’s all that matters. Where we are now feels good and indicates that we have started the season well, but we have to keep pushing and keep improving. No one is ever perfect or standing still in this sport. So far we’ve made the smallest mistakes, that’s why we’re first, but we all know it can change quickly.”
