Verstappen set the fastest time in the last qualifying session, but it was canceled due to exceeding the track limit in turn 4. “That was a fairly good lap, but I had a moment and came too wide out of the corner,” said the Red Bull driver. “It was difficult to drive throughout qualifying, we had little grip. I was confident that I could do a good last lap, but in the last sector I was bothered by the cars in front of me. Then it becomes difficult, especially with this grip and the wind. That took me some time, but it is what it is. ”
Verstappen starts from the second row together with teammate Sergio Pérez. Like both Mercedes drivers, they do that on the medium tire. “Not ideal this, but we’ll see what we can do during the race,” Verstappen continued. Hopefully the wind will stabilize a bit. Until now it has not been too much fun to drive here. ”
