Max Verstappen and associates get new engine in France

It is the first time this season that the Japanese supplier has come up with a new engine. Gasly’s teammate Yuki Tsunoda was already ready for his second power source after his crash in Imola. Mercedes already exchanged the engine for the works team and all customer teams before the start of the previous Grand Prix in Baku. Renault will also come with a new power source at Paul Ricard this weekend.

The drivers will not be penalized, because three engines may be used during this season. Due to regulations, there should be no direct upgrade in performance. However, Honda aims to make the engine more durable, which should indirectly improve the performance of the power source.

As of this weekend, Honda will also use a different brand name for the engine. It now says Honda e:TECHNOLOGY.
