The Red Bull driver drove a GT car there in January. “It is a great circuit,” said the Limburger. “I was there for a few days. It did rain most of the time, but it was still a lot of fun to drive, especially in wet conditions. ”
These days it also rains a lot in the Algarve, although it does get drier and sunnier later in the week. In the run-up to the twelfth race of the season, Verstappen explains why he thinks the Autódromo do Algarve is such a nice track.
“There are a lot of height differences and the layout of the circuit is just very cool. It’s a bit technical, but in general it’s a fast track so I’m looking forward to driving over it in a Formula 1 car. I enjoy going to new tracks, it’s different for everyone and it can mix things up a bit. That makes it interesting. ”
Verstappen finished second behind Lewis Hamilton in the last race at the Nürburgring. “We had a good weekend there and I think we took a step forward with the car. It looked like we were a little closer to Mercedes. That is very positive. With a new circuit ahead, I am curious what we can do there. ”
