Juan Manuel Correa back in motorsport after Anthoine Hubert’s fatal crash



The 21-year-old American-born American will compete in Formula 3 for ART Grand Prix in 2021, the team announced on Monday.

On August 31, 2019, Frenchman Anthoine Hubert was killed after an accident at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit involving four drivers. In addition to Hubert, these were the French Giuliano Alesi, the Swiss Ralph Boschung and Correa.

Horror Crash

The latter could not avoid the crashed Hubert and collided with the Frenchman at 218 kilometers per hour. Correa came out of the crash seriously injured and was in hospital for months. He underwent several operations on his legs. After a long recovery period, Correa is able to continue his career.

“I am very happy to be back after what I experienced,” Correa explains. “Formula 1 is still my dream. This is the first step of my comeback. ” Correa was not behind the wheel of a racing car for a year and a half. “I don’t put pressure on myself. I will do my best and do what I love to do. That in itself is a victory. ”
