Halina Reijn has a double chance of winning the Independent Spirit Award | Movies & Series

Halina Reijn has a chance to win an Independent Spirit Award next year. The Dutch has been nominated in the category best director for her first American film Bodies, Bodies, Bodies. The film also received a nomination for Best Screenplay.

The Independent Spirit Awards are American film awards for the best independent films made on a modest budget.

With eight pieces, the most nominations are for the fantasy film Everything Everywhere All at Once. To the surprise of several American media, it has been critically acclaimed The Whale by Darren Aronofsky not nominated. That film is being tipped as a possible contender for an Oscar.

Bodies, Bodies, Bodies is about a party of a group of rich twenty-somethings that gets completely out of hand. The lead roles are played by Pete Davidson, Amandla Stenberg, Maria Bakalova and Myha’la Herrold.

The winners of the Independent Spirit Awards will be announced on March 4, a week before the Oscars.
