Frustrated Sebastien Vettel hopes that after rain there will be sunshine

“I clearly haven’t got the most out of the car yet. All the more reason to keep trying ”, says 33-year-old Vettel in the run-up to the third race of the season, next weekend in Portugal.

“The Portimão circuit seems like a great place for a flawless weekend to me,” said the driver, who won the world title in a Red Bull between 2010 and 2013. He switched to Ferrari in 2015, where he tried unsuccessfully for six years to give the Italian racing stable a new world title. He was told early last season that his contract with Ferrari would not be renewed.

At Aston Martin, Vettel is chasing new success, but the dark green car is not really cooperating yet. Vettel faced numerous technical problems in the races in Bahrain and Imola. “Sebastian has very high expectations of himself and his frustrations are understandable, but I also know that he is determined to get the best out of the car,” said team principal Otmar Szafnauer. “This car is new to him, it takes time to get to the smallest details. It’s that simple.”
