Formula 1 drivers speak out against Hungarian anti-gay law: ‘Cowardly and misleading’

There was a lot of talk about this law during the last European Football Championship. Orange captain Georginio Wijnaldum wore a captain’s armband with the text ‘One Love’ in Budapest during the lost game against the Czech Republic.

Hamilton states on Instagram: “To everyone in beautiful Hungary. I want to express my support to everyone who is bothered by the anti-LGBTQ+ law that the government has introduced.”

“It is unacceptable, cowardly and misleading that people in power enact such laws. Everyone is free to be themselves, whoever they love or however they identify themselves. I call on all Hungarians to vote for the LGBTQ+ community in the upcoming referendum. They need our support more than ever.”

Sebastian Vettel also made himself heard. The German from Aston Martin arrived at the Hungaroring on Thursday with special shoes, with a rainbow on them.
