Former F1 champion Alain Prost on Lewis Hamilton: ‘Fifty-fifty’ chance of continuing’

“It’s hard to put yourself in his shoes,” the Frenchman said Le Journal du Dimanche. “He has both reasons to stop and so many reasons to keep going. He’s taken a mental hit, but it would be really sad if he’s not there next season.”

Still, Prost remains optimistic. “Because there is an eighth title up for grabs for Lewis. In addition, with the new technical regulations, there may be three teams and five or six drivers competing for the world title. That’s a great challenge for Hamilton.”

Former Formula 1 champion Damon Hill also joined the discussion. “If you’re a Hamilton fan, do yourself a favor and don’t worry. He will never get this title back. Never again. I’m really looking forward to seeing Lewis back in action in 2022. Winners don’t constantly shout about how unfair it all is. Show some backbone…”, said the Englishman who claimed the title in 1996.
