Evan Peters takes on the role of Jeffrey Dahmer in the series Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story. Variety reports that the series looks at the serial killer through the eyes of the victims.
The series is written by Ian Brennan and Ryan Murphy, who have previously collaborated titles such as Ratched, Scream Queens, Hollywood and The Politician made. Murphy is also responsible for the series American Horror Story, in which Peters played various roles.
In addition to Peters, Niecy Nash and Penelope Ann Miller can also be seen. Miller plays Dahmer’s mother, while Nash can be seen as Glenda Cleveland, a neighbor who warned police several times about the serial killer’s suspicious behavior.
In Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story the (lack of) intervention of the police around Dahmer is also critically examined. At least ten incidents are shown where Dahmer came into contact with the police, but was not prosecuted.
Dahmer murdered at least seventeen men and boys in thirteen years. One of the victims was injured after escaping from Dahmer’s home and returned to him by police after convincing the officers that it was his friend. Dahmer was arrested in 1991 and convicted a year later. In 1994 he was murdered in prison.
