Johnny Briggs died on Sunday after a long illness at the age of 85, reports PA Media Sunday based on a statement from his family. The actor was best known for his role in the British series Coronation Street.
Briggs played the character Mike Baldwin in the British soap opera between 1976 and 2006, which has been on television since 1960.
In 2006, the actor received the British Soap Lifetime Achievement Award for his thirty years in the series. A year later he was awarded a royal decoration by the British Queen Elizabeth for his services.
