Belgian man died by rocket in face | NOW

In the Belgian municipality of Zandhoven, a 28-year-old man died on New Year’s Eve as a result of an incident involving fireworks. According to the police, the man got a rocket in the face.

The incident took place at a house in the Zandhoven sub-municipality of Pulle, east of Antwerp. The man was there with his family and wanted to set off fireworks despite the fireworks ban.

When he wanted to take a closer look at why a flare did not go off, it exploded in his face. The man died of his injuries.

A 25-year-old man also died in a fireworks accident in the French town of Boofzheim in Alsace. A 24-year-old man has been taken to hospital with serious injuries to his face. In the French region, a fireworks ban applies for the entire month of December.

As far as is known, no one has died in the Netherlands this New Year as a result of an incident involving fireworks. A man from Alphen aan den Rijn was seriously injured on Thursday when fireworks exploded in a flat.
