AZ gives away victory at FC Utrecht in injury time in last game of 2020 | NOW

AZ handed over a victory in the last Eredivisie match of this calendar year on Sunday. The team of interim coach Pascal Jansen lost a 1-2 lead in injury time on a visit to FC Utrecht: 2-2.

Eljero Elia gave FC Utrecht the lead after half an hour. His goal was initially canceled due to offside, but after the intervention of the VAR, the goal was nevertheless approved.

Halfway through the second half, AZ came to the same level. Teun Koopmeiners used a penalty kick after the ball hit the spot because of hands from Simon Gustafson.

Seven minutes before time, Calvin Stengs gave the visitors the lead. The attacker found the target with a shot from just outside the box.

AZ seemed to be heading for the fourth league victory in a row, but in the third minute of injury time Adrián Dalmau helped the home team to a point.

Due to the draw, AZ remains number five in the rankings. FC Utrecht can be found in tenth place.
