After criticism of ‘white’ Golden Globes, the ceremony is back on television after a year Movies & Series

The Golden Globes ceremony will be shown on television again next year after a year of absence. The American channel NBC will broadcast the award show live on January 10, 2022.

NBC announced last year that it would not broadcast the film and television awards due to criticism of the diversity within the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), the organization of the Golden Globes. It determines each year who will win the prestigious prizes.

The HFPA has been criticized for some time because there were no black people among its nearly ninety members. According to the organization, 52 percent of the members are women and 51.5 percent contribute to diversity in the “racial and ethnic” area.

NBC has now agreed to at least broadcast next year’s award. “We see the HFPA’s commitment to change and look forward to welcoming the 80th Golden Globes back in January 2023,” an NBC chairman told US media.

The presentation of the 79th Golden Globes could not be followed via television or livestream this year. The winners were announced at a meeting without an audience.
